I am an only child. So unfortunately, I never had a sister to fight with or a brother to complain to — maybe I’m a little confused — a sister to complain to or a brother to fight. I always wanted an older brother, though. Being an only child may have its perks, but it’s no picnic. Usually, I isolate myself from people, but sometimes I find myself making friends quickly. But I’m afraid of having any type of relationship with anyone, whether its friendship or love, because I’m afraid of getting hurt and end up being alone again.

So is anyone here an only child, and if so how does it feel to be an only child? Or if you have siblings, tell me about them and how it feels to have them?

Sis. Aiman gave me a very good idea, which was that i write to you about my country, Sudan, and my studies here. So thank you for a wonderful idea, Sis. Aiman.

Sudan is my homeland. Today is our independence day which was on 1-1-1956 Sudan is currently in a state of change. The next few days will decide whether it will stay a whole country or be split in half. The date for the decision is set on the 9th of January, 2011 which is nine days away.

Personally, I want my homeland to stay whole and live in peace forever but, unfortunately, its not for me to decide. So what do you think will happen? Will the Sudan split or will we stay a whole?
